Job Requirements
Hutchinson Ag is looking for multiple full-time Agricultural Technicians to join their expanding mixed farming business.
- Must have at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Must have experience in irrigated farming, earthmoving, and mechanical fields
- Must be able to work closely with Farm Managers, Owners, and Agronomists
- Australian work authorisation preferred
- Must be comfortable with a diverse range of cropping and livestock duties
Key Responsibilities
As an Agricultural Technician, you will responsible:
- Monitor the health and welfare of cattle, identify and treat illnesses and injuries, administer vaccinations, and monitor nutritional needs
- Assist with breeding programs, including artificial insemination, monitoring breeding cycles, administering veterinary medicine, and assisting with calving
- Provide technical support for crop maintenance, including preparing soil, monitoring soil quality, applying fertilizers and pesticides, and monitoring irrigation and nutrient levels
- Identify pests, diseases, and weeds that can harm crops and livestock
- Implement control measures and maintain accurate records of chemicals and veterinary drugs administered
- Support both cropping (cotton, corn, chickpea, wheat, mung beans) and livestock (1,100 breeder herd) operations
- Assist with irrigation development and general farm production activities
About Hutchinson Ag
Hutchinson Ag is a family-run mixed farming business located on the Dawson River, covering 8,258 Ha across 4 farms. Approximately 2,200 Ha is under irrigation, with further large-scale irrigation development underway. The business grows cotton and seasonal grain crops, and runs a 1,100-head Droughtmaster/Santa beef cattle herd crossed with Angus and Charolais. It is a Best Management Practice (BMP) accredited farm that uses modern machinery, equipment, and techniques, and works with the local school to introduce students to irrigation development and cotton farming.
