Job Requirements
Couture Logistics Inc. is looking for a Truck Driver to join their team.
Ideal candidates:
- Must have 3 years to less than 5 years of relevant experience
- Must have a Class 1 or Class A driver’s licence with Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
- Must speak French
- Must have a trades certificate or diploma in ground transportation (or related)
- Must have a valid passport
- Must pass basic security clearance, criminal record check, driver’s licence check, driving record check (abstract), drug test, and medical exam
- Must be willing to travel cross-border, overnight, and for extended periods
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle
- Must have own transportation
- Must provide cellular phone, steel-toed safety boots, and gloves
- Must be organized, reliable, patient, and have good judgement
- Must be able to handle weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Key Responsibilities
As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating straight and articulated trucks to transport goods and materials across local, short-haul, regional, provincial, national, long-haul, and international routes. You will maintain the vehicle in safe operating condition by conducting thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, checking tires, lights, brakes, refrigeration systems, and other equipment, and performing brake adjustments when required. You will also securely tarp and handle cargo, communicate with central dispatch, operate GPS and navigation equipment, maintain accurate records of cargo, hours of service, mileage, and fuel consumption, provide professional customer service, and complete required inspection and trans-border documentation.
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks (tractor-trailer) to transport goods and materials
- Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
- Perform brake adjustments
- Complete pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Provide professional customer service
- Operate GPS and other navigation equipment
- Handle local, short-haul, regional, provincial, national, long-haul, and international trips
- Complete inspection reports and trans-border documentation
